A little Bit aBout me...
I am currently the Collegiate Program Manager for the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers and co-founder/CEO of Saathi, a social enterprise which is developing a small scale manufacturing machine to make sanitary pads out of waste banana tree fiber. I graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where I majored in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in robotics and sustainability and a minor in Chinese. Before Saathi, I spent almost two years as a hardware engineer, at Oracle in Burlington, MA. I love to learn about how things work and how they can be improved!
I am interested in product design and development and design for developing countries. At MIT, I led many project teams where we have built robots, yo-yos, and a new kind of mobility aid that is sleek, lightweight and meant for the independent walker user. After graduation, I decided to continue working on a project that I started in India. I returned for my second field visit where we completed the second phase of R&D, now we are in the marketing and production stages. Check out my portfolio to learn more about the projects!
Outside of class, I led various groups on campus to raise awareness for different causes by organizing banquets, nightmarkets, conferences, and summer programs at MIT and abroad. I was involved in getting the MIT Chapter of the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) off the ground and after graduating was selected to be the Northeast Regional Co-Coordinator for National SASE. After almost a year in that role, I was promoted to be the Northeast Regional Manager where I doubled the size of the region and collaborated with the other Regional Managers to standardize best practices.
I was born and raised in New York City. The diverse atmosphere inspired me to explore and have many different hobbies. I love indoor rock climbing, art and photography (check out the photos tab or my flickr), traveling, learning new languages, meeting new people, and trying new things.
